The Min Group Unveils a Novel, Kinetic-Based DNA-Damage Recognition Mechanism

The Min group's recent research unveiled a novel, kinetic-based target
recognition mechanism ('kinetic gating') for DNA damage recognition. This mechanism explains how the DNA damage recognition protein XPC can search for and recognize diverse DNA lesions embedded in a sea of undamaged genomic DNA. The paper was published in the Jan. 6, 2015 issue of Nature Communications and is featured on   UIC News  (featured article), Chicago Biomedical Consortium's Science Spotlight,  National Science Foundations’s Science 360  and Science News SciGuru.
