Prof. Nan Jiang has published a paper in Nano Letters

Prof. Nan Jiang’s new paper in Nano Letters reports the first tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS) experiment on a dynamic molecular phase boundary. While scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is commonly used to study molecular phase boundaries, the information content can be severely compromised by surface diffusion, irregular packing, or three-dimensional adsorbate geometry. With TERS method, both condensed and diffusing domains of PPDI molecules were chemically and structurally analyzed. Through comparison with time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) simulations, the orientation of PPDI molecules at the dynamic molecular domain boundary was unraveled with unprecedented ~4 nm spatial resolution.
