The University Scholar award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate exceptional performance in both research and teaching, along with strong promise for future achievement. Rather than honoring a single project or proposal, the award reflects a recipient’s overall excellence and UIC’s broader commitment to supporting outstanding faculty and their work.
Mankad is one of two UIC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences faculty members honored this year, alongside political scientist Alexandra Filindra. The College celebrated the recognition as a reflection of the impactful work its faculty continue to contribute to the academic community.
