UIC Undergraduate Gustavo Medina Wins ACS Scholars Award for 2024

Gustavo Medina, an undergraduate and chemistry major at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), has won an American Chemical Society (ACS) award. The ACS Scholars Program, which aims to support and promote underrepresented students in the chemical sciences, has selected Medina as one of its distinguished Scholars for 2024. This recognition reflects his academic excellence, leadership, and potential to contribute significantly to the scientific community. Medina conducts research in Professor Duncan Wardrop’s laboratory, where he studies the formation and reactivity of azaspirodiones. In addition to this award, Gustavo recently received a Paaren Summer Research Award and participates in the UIC S-STEM program.
